Former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has dedicated the $5 million (I.8bn Naira) prize money, she got as the winner of the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership on Friday to women empowerment.

Court nullifies installation of 21 kings by Gov Ajimobi

An Oyo State High Court presided over by Justice Olajumoke Aiki on Friday declared the review of the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration and other Related Chieftaincies in Ibadan land by the Justice Akintunde Boade Review Commission, which was set up by the Oyo State Government, as unconstitutional, illegal, null, void and of no effect.

The commission had recommended, among others, the creation of several monarchs in Ibadan which led to the installation of 21 kings by the state Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Aare Ona Kakanfo (FULL SPEECH) I will spare no effort in ensuring the unity of Yoruba race within the contemporary Nigeria body polity - Gani Adams

The leader of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC‎, Gani Adams, was on Saturday installed as the new Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.
The event, witnessed by prominent Yoruba monarchs, governors and other officials, was held in Oyo town of Oyo State. He was given the title by the Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi.

In his speech, delivered in both Yoruba and English, Mr. Adams called for unity among Yorubas.

Alaafin, a new Aare Ona Kakanfo arrive venue

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, Gani Ada , have arrived at the Durban Stadium, the venue of installation of Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland in Oyo.
the front row which include the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran and White Cap Chiefs from Lagos State.


The programme will start immediately the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abuola Ajimobi, arrives at the venue.

Liberia: A Big Blow Has Dealt With President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's

What appears as a big blow has been dealt President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf's push for the passage of several bills before leaving office in few days' time.
Members of the 53rd she summoned into an emergency session to act on 13 bills Thursday adjourned for good without acting on any of the bills, an action experts will disappoint the departing President.

Instead of passing the Bills as wished by Madam Sirleaf, lawmakers only sent them into committee rooms, fully aware of the extinction of the august body.

At only 23, Ava Roberts becomes youngest African-American female doctor!

Ava Roberts (23) is now the youngest first African-American female doctor in the world!

Though word of his accomplishment are however minimal, French site Pelea reports in their site that “after a gifted childhood, Ava Roberts quickly excelled through medical school and became a force to be reckoned with as the youngest African-American female doctor.” This an amazing young age, when you look at how long doctors go to school?! Ava Roberts must have been a child prodigy! You go girl! She is a great role model to young women everywhere in the world! for being the youngest African-American female doctor.



Looking down the memory lane, first black doctor in history was James McCune Smith. Smith couldn’t go to medical school in New York, so he went to Scotland for his degree and returned home to treat the city’s poor.

"Her name is Jewel Howard-Taylor, so it has a very thin line between the separation as a first lady and a separation as a senator, for the fact that most people (here) still owe Charles Taylor so greatly," said Uriah Mitchell, head of programmes and production at Radio Gbarnga in Bong County's capital. In other words she has become a great asset to the Weah's Crown Campaign.
