7 Life Principles of Power by Confucius and Their Meanings

Confucius was one of the greatest Chinese philosophers in history. His views on life are views that have lived long throughout history and continue to inspire many centuries later.
Confucius philosophy was greatly emphasized on social interactions and morality. His teaching, which are in the Analects, helped shape the philosophies of many Chinese dynasties after his death. He became a very influential person who beliefs has help shaped many people’s views on life and ways of living. He has many followers. Here, I am going to share with you 7 inspirational life quotes from Confucius and their meanings decoded.

1. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
The greatest, most successful of men are the ones who never get defeated. They may have failed but they never are defeated. Everyone faces an obstacle in life, but to overcome them time after time again is our greatest success in life. Through this accomplishment we build resilience within our character, refusing to ever be defeated. This is one of the greatest qualities anyone could ever possess.

2. Wherever you go, go with all your heart.
Someone who does not put 100% effort into all that they do will never achieve anything great in life or never experience the full pleasures of true happiness. When you put all of your heart into anything in life, whether it be your craft, job, or a memorable moment, you learn the true definition of excellence and happiness through full emersion of yourself into that craft, job, or moment.

You are the creator of your destiny, and whatever destiny you may choose, you must pursue it with all of your focus. The people who changed the world such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Confucius, etc. did not purse their ambitions half-heartedly. These great men were ready to die for what they believed in and they had to sacrifice a lot to reach their dreams. Whatever we do in this life and whatever destiny we choose for ourselves, we must delve our entire beings into it to truly experience our greatest selves.
3. I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
In order to reach any type of mastery within ourselves and within our lives, we must take action. Only through action can we truly understand the path to success. Take for example a college student who is entering into the business world through a company or by becoming an entrepreneur. During college, this students takes in so much information and is constantly hearing the professor or lecturer speak about how to succeed in the business world, but they soon forget this information after so many semesters of studying.
At this point can they really go into the business and be successful? No, because most of the information they have learned is forgotten and they haven’t understood the business world through interaction and experience. Now, this same business student go and see someone do all the tasks that has made them successful in a company or as an entrepreneur. As humans being very visual, this student can now remember more on what to do to succeed in the business.
But, it is not until they are in the actual company or try to start their own do they fully understand the hard work, dedication, interactions, and skills needed to be successful. That is why a lot of companies would take years of experience over a degree. Only through experience can you truly understand.
4. Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.
Life is all about being happy, making contributions, and memorable moments. Happiness is derived from progression. Progression is derived from consistent improvement through hard work and dedication. It’s that simple, but we tend to make things a lot more complicated than they are or derive some meaning behind the simple things. We simply live to full-fill ourselves through achievement in any area of our life. We achieve through hard-word and dedication, that’s it. There is no magic formula.
5. It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
When you are trying to reach a goal or dream, it does not matter how slowly you move towards that goal or dream, just don’t stop. Move towards achieving that goal every day. We all are different in the way we think and act. Each of our brains have a specific configuration that will never be brought about again.
In this, we must know that some people may be slower to achieve something in a certain area of life. They may reach a goal a lot slower or learn slower, but they would only fail if they gave up. It does not matter how slow you move at leaning something or achieving a goal, you should never give up because you will one day master it if you just keep going.
6. The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential…these are the keys that will unlock the door to your personal excellence.
In order to reach our full potential and personal excellence, we must delve deep into ourselves and find our will to win, our desire to succeed, and that burning desire to reach our full potential. This usually comes from finding our purpose in life, a purpose that is bigger than ourselves. Kevin Durant, one of the greatest basketball players in this era, has had the burning desire to win and reach his full potential to win a basketball championship for his coach who died. He has a purpose bigger than himself and found his will.
7. Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.
Success is dependent upon you taking full advantage of the opportunities that arise in life. Most opportunities come without notification, but if you are not prepared for that opportunity, you can never succeed. You must improve on yourself and your craft daily, even when there no opportunities in the present moment to show off your talents, because the opportunity will one day come and you must be prepared. Practice and prepare for everything you want to do in life, even if you think it is too early to.
